Iryna Biloborodova, a photographer from Kyiv/Ukraine has been an artist-in-residence at Künstlerhof Frohnau as part of the program “Artists at Risk”, funded by Goethe-Institut. During this period, from September to December 2023, Iryna produced a series of photos.

“Mostly I photograph people who I know personally, with whom I am friends, work or live next to, sometimes documenting what is there, sometimes offering to immerse myself in the experience, which I call the ‘naked photo experience’- this is a special format of photography.
The residency experience at Künstlerhof Frohnau gave me the opportunity to immerse myself in the topic of vulnerability, communication and finding solutions. Living in the same house with completely different artists brought with it inspiration and challenges. It’s wonderful to be in a place where there are no sirens in the middle of the night, but my heart is still drawn to Kyiv, a city full of people I love.”
